Founder - Brenton Sconce

Brenton Sconce is a former pastor, public speaker, storyteller, and the founder of BEAR - a movement dedicated to making sure people don’t fall behind in recovery when treatment ends.

Brenton’s passion for aftercare is deeply personal. He was once the recipient of a scholarship that helped make his own continued recovery possible. That experience changed the trajectory of his life - and ultimately became the catalyst for BEAR.

Today, Brenton uses his story, his voice, and the Bearcrawl for Recovery all over the country to raise awareness, mobilize communities, and bring resources to the organizations already doing the work of helping build lasting recovery.

He believes recovery (and life) is not a finish line. It’s a journey of taking one small step forward at a time.

BEAR

Recovery doesn’t end when treatment ends.

BEAR exists to make sure people don’t fall behind in recovery simply because they can’t afford the next step.

We’re building a movement around aftercare—raising awareness, bringing communities together, and mobilizing resources to help people access the continued support they need to build lasting recovery.

We don’t believe we need to recreate the incredible work already being done. We believe in partnering with the organizations that are already in the fight and helping put more resources behind them.

Through the Bearcrawl for Recovery, community events, storytelling, partnerships, and aftercare scholarships, BEAR brings people together around one simple belief:

Everyone deserves a chance to keep moving forward.

Treatment gets you started. Aftercare helps you keep going.

BEAR is here to make sure money isn’t the reason you stop.

Join the movement. Fund recovery. Change the game..
